Why was the Jewish leadership so determined to reject Jesus?

Was it because their system of law was
TOO NARROW to cope with his message?
Why did Pilate who represented the Roman Empire and a system based upon the Order of Greek Philosophy "cave in"?

Peter says .."Jesus whom you delivered and denied in the presence of Pilate when he had decided to release him."
(Acts 3:13)

Luke's account in the gospel says 'But they insisted with loud voices asking that he be crucified. Their voices prevailed.'
(Luke 23:23)

Does this reflect a general weakness in this social system to cave in to
THE LOUD VOICE?

As Luke moves into writing the rest of Acts he shows there are two key things the emerging hybrid society must deal with.

The society needs to counter the narrowness of a society based upon law.

It needs to reinterpret the voice of a society based upon order.
