(Despite their warning we continued and) on completing the voyage from Tyre we arrived at Ptolemais. On greeting the brothers there we remained one day with them. Then on the next day we departed and came to Caesarea. On entering into the house of Philip who was one of the seven evangelists (there) we remained with him. Now this man had four daughters who were unmarried and who were prophesying. We were still there many days later when a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. On coming to us he took Paul's girdle. He bound his own hands and feet

(with this) and said "The Holy Spirit says this "The man who owns this girdle will be bound in this way in Jerusalem. The Jews will deliver him up into the hands of the nations (Gentiles or Romans). When we heard about these things both we and the residents (there in Caesaria) urged (Paul) not to go up to Jerusalem. Then Paul answered "What are you doing weeping and weakening my heart? For I am not only to be bound but also to die in Jerusalem on behalf of the name of the Lord Jesus." When he was not persuaded we kept silence having said, "May the will of the Lord be done."
