Part One of Is Christian Morality Unique? shows how, starting with Paul (writing in the 50's CE) there is a focus on the three commandments "Thou shalt not kill, commit adultery or steal".

But Paul gradually "idealises" these commandments. He confronts the Galatians who would try to over-regulate people's self-determination. He challenges the Corinthians who think the "divine spark" within them is their own, rather than the Holy Spirit.
He encourages converts to give generously.

A Council of Jerusalem "idealises" the commandments further when it bans "blood, fornication and strangling." In the context and at the moral level, it was banning cruelty as such, uncommitted sex, and unjust business practices.

From 70CE the gospels, starting with Mark, pick up on Paul's focus and align it with a following of Jesus.
